Photography
Before 'fidgiti' there was 'flowers in watercolour'. In order to create intricately detailed and botanically correct portraits of flowers, I needed good reference material. Having scoured library shelves in search of gardening books with photos I could use and without a great deal of success, I decided to try and take my own.
After a while, and having finally invested in a decent camera (and this was before digital cameras were a 'must have', I found I was quite good at it.
Initially my photographs were mainly for reference but before long, I started to become a little more confident, adventurous and explore different angles and apply a more abstract approach so that some photos may even be indistinguishable due to the unfamiliar angle on the smallest area of a flower or plant.
Inevitably, flower photography soon branched out and I started to notice a photo opportunity in all sorts of settings. Whilst out in the car with my family, I very often ask my long-suffering husband to 'stop the car!' because I've just spotted something to snap.
The coffee cup was probably the most notable moment of madness, when I had to take the shot quite quickly before the lens steamed up! Not only did the photo recently win an online competition, but, as mentioned on my acrylic page, this lead to a painting that subsequently sold.
Odney bridge too, lead to a labour of love and the resulting acrylic on canvas can also be seen on my acrylic page.
Now, it is very rare that I go further than the end of the road without my camera on me and I never tire of the results.
